Oct. 6, 2008 - The "Less Fun" Jam

Hi Folks:

What's the matter with you people? Don't you have day jobs?

Bill specifically requested that we have less fun last week, so that he could get to bed at an earlier hour, and what did you do?

You had MORE fun and stayed even LATER!

We were thinking of instituting a penalty for late jamming of one beer each for both Bill and I, but then Gail preempted us and bought a round anyway for last week's late-nighters.

Thanks a lot Gail, encourage them more.

All right, here it is. This week only slow, mournful songs in minor keys about death or dying (or better yet, both in the same song). Think funereal.

We expect people to be tearfully leaving by 10:30, if not earlier (and Bill can finally get some sleep).

Seriously, it does seem that people are getting into the spirit - that Lou Reed number was fun (1, 2, 4, 2... what a great progression), and hats off to my jam co-host for "Proud Mary" - an instant classic. Keep 'em coming.

I'm, of course, way too modest to mention the rousing version of "Get Back" (oops, I think I just did...)

See you next Monday, the 20th, at 7:30 - Paddy's is the SW of 2nd Ave. and 29th.

And remember, no fun - I'll bring the hankies.
