Mar. 30, 2009 Jam

Hello again B + B's, it seems like just last week...

It's time for the second game of our season-opening double header (Sarah hates it when I use sports metaphors) - this Monday (for all you non-NCAA fans) - another Bluegrass + Beyond at 7:30, Paddy Reilly's (SW corner of 2nd + 29th).

Bill has asked me once again to reiterate his request from last year to not have so much fun at these jams - we left last night at 1:30 when Rayleen kicked us out. Mike and Joe are whippersnappers, so it doesn't phase them - but Bill and I, when they card us at bars we whip out our AARP IDs. And it's Monday night, for God's sake, don't you people work? I had to set an alarm at work to wake up for lunch today.

I'm really enjoying the out of town flavor brought to the recent jams from Leslie (Mass.), California (Ray) and now Karen (from upstate).  Not to mention soon to be out of towner Joe about to re-settle with the Navy in D.C..

Why aren't you people grouchy like me?

By the way, google "Country Current" to listen to these 2 clips (both originals) from the band that Joe's joining in D.C. next month, the bluegrass quintet of the U.S Navy's "Country Current" band .  Click on "Recordings", and scroll down to "Country Current". Listen to "Sugarland Run" and "Heart Of Caroline" (and don't try to play that 2nd banjo break at home, kids!).

It was fun last night watching Scottie and Joe exchanging unfathomable licks with each other.

Other highlights for me were co-host Bill's "Love The One Your With", Sarah's "Dirty Old Town" and Warren's "The Harder They Come" (luckily we didn't fall too hard on that one...).

Not to mention the formidable team of Chris (no slouch on guitar) and Mark (all right, he's a little bit of a slouch), prying themselves away from family responsibilities uptown to grace B + B once again.

Keep up the good work, good songs and have fun,
