Jan. 5, 2009 Jam - B + B 101

B + B ers:

With the Inauguration imminent, it's time to ask yourself: "To B + B, or not to B + B? That's the question...

Luckily, we have the answer! Yes. This coming Monday, from 7:30 on at Paddy Reilly's (corner of 2nd Ave. and 29th).

Since it's a new year, we'd like to reiterate our jam basics briefly.

(Excerpted from the upcoming publication "B + B 101: 2 Dummies Guide to Jamming + Hosting" by Dave and Bill): "Jams are 1st, 3rd and the occasional 5th Monday of each month (always preceded by a witty e-mail notice). Music is acoustic only, basically bluegrass instruments (no plugging in, no drums, etc.). Bluegrass and country tunes will be equally interspersed with pop / rock - just to keep any purists away. And finally, jams must always be fun for everyone - especially hosts. Feel free to pass on the e-mail below to interesting people for inclusion on the list."

We also start the new year with a bit of bad news. Co-founder, ace bartender (and loyal friend of my tiny Mexican beer-drinking / Irish community), Barry has apparently moved on to better things - although what could be better than B + B we've yet to ascertain. Here's raising a Corona Stout to you, mi amigo!

Of course, every coin has has two sides, and the silver lining of this cloud (did I just mix metaphors?) is a far better looking Eileen behind the bar from now on. She can even do the clover leaf in the Guiness head thing... now if only she could do the palm tree in the Corona head (or at least put a lime in my Guiness) life would be beautiful.

Thanks to all who made the holiday season so much fun - we needn't have worried about attendance or food (or audience, for that matter). But don't worry, I'll find something else to worry about soon enough.

See you soon,
